“Is This The American Way?”

On the Veteran Day holiday Mr. Larry Rush and his partner Mr. Lawrence Feldman, the new owners and developers of the Syosset Mobile Home Park had a server place notices of eviction on the doors of our residents, some of course being vets themselves.

How patriotic are you?

On one of the very holiest of the Jewish holidays, Mr. Larry Rush and Mr. Lawrence Feldman had termination notices placed on our residents doors.

How respectful of ones faith are you?

On the day before Thanksgiving, as I watched, once again a server was putting notices of eviction on our resident’s doors. I guess the next batch of evictions will be placed on our doors during Hanukkah, Christmas Eve or maybe even Christmas Day. It does not matter Mr. Rush or Mr. Feldman because we, the residents, are waiting for them! We do expect the disrespect.

Here we were in the middle of a negotiation waiting for a revised lease when Mr. Rush and Mr. Feldman served us with evictions. We, the residents of the Syosset Mobile Home Park haven’t anywhere to go. Where do we move to with our children, seniors, disabled and vets? STP Associates LLC would like to outright steal our homes. How American is this? No one in the park will be able to afford to live elsewhere, expect on the streets of Syosset. How American is this? How dare you try to run us out of our homes like cattle? How dare you, because of your greed, push innocent children out of their homes and out of their schools? Mr. Rush and Mr. Feldman you are inhumane!

The Town of Oyster Bay should check the foreclosures going on right here, right now. The Town of Oyster Bay should check to see how many of their seniors must sell their homes, their equity, because they cannot afford to pay the property taxes. The Town of Oyster Bay says they want to attract and keep the “next generation” on long island by building more affordable housing right here. The Syosset Mobile Home Park is our community and it is affordable living, so why is this happening?

Rush and Feldman purchased an occupied Mobile Park to evict the people!
“Inhumanity should not go unnoticed in the United States.”
“Inhumanity should Never be quoted as “legal” in the United States, and this was stated, by our local legislators as a “legal” sale. Was it?

Nassau legislators now have the opportunity to stop this GREED, stop this INHUMANE act now. Let Nassau County be the first to save humanity. This Mobile Park is 100 years old, as a mobile home park, rightfully and legally it should belong to its residents.

Where does the dollar end and a human life begin? Go away developers—take your money elsewhere and leave us, the residents of the only mobile home park in Nassau County alone.

Respectfully and Regretfully,

Barbara A. Npedote
A resident of the Syosset Mobile Home Park
